Let’s talk about some of the key details in dovetail joinery.
At Laverty Log Homes And Timber Frames we use true, compound dovetails. What makes them compound? The dovetail locks on both the ‘x’ and ‘y’ axes.
We have carefully scored the line on the timber’s shoulders, cut it with a chainsaw, planed it smooth with a hand plane and cut our channels for the gasketing.
This technique makes the home more attractive while locking the timber in both directions. Our dovetail joinery is constructed completely by hand making our buildings aesthetically appealing and energy efficient.
