The log home pre-assembly process behind every Laverty Log Homes build.

The first time a Laverty Log Homes round log home goes up, no one is watching.

There’s no site, no foundation, no family watching from a safe distance. Just a team of craftsmen, an open space, a set of plans, and the logs themselves. We stack it. We fit every corner, cut every notch, scribe every joint. We build the whole thing.

Then we take it apart.

This is called the pre-assembly. It sounds methodical, and it is. But there’s more to it than quality control.

A round log is not a board. It has a crown, a taper, a natural bow. Two Scandinavian round logs that measure the same on paper are different in your hands. Each one settles differently under weight. Each notch is cut to that log, for that position, in that wall. There are no interchangeable parts.

So we fit them. We number them. We learn the building before the building exists.

The takedown is its own kind of work.

Every round log comes off the stack in reverse order. Each one is marked and checked, then stickered for transport so air can move between them and the wood stays true. Loading is planned. Nothing shifts in transit.

The photographs are from that stage. They don’t show the finished home. They show the moment before it becomes permanent. Logs marked. A structure that exists and then, deliberately, doesn’t.

It looks like deconstruction. It is preparation.

None of this works without the right people.

A craftsman who builds Scandinavian round log homes knows what a log is going to do. Not what it’s doing now. What it’s going to do in six months, in ten years, after three Canadian winters. He knows where the wood wants to go.

That knowledge doesn’t transfer in a week. It accumulates over years of cold mornings and slow work and caring about what you put your name on.

When your home goes up on your land, every log has been there before. Every fit has been proven. So we numbered it and brought it to you.

A Scandinavian round log home is a long commitment. It deserves to be built by people who take that seriously.

When you’re ready to talk, we are.
