SCHEDULING

When scheduling your project for construction, it is important to consider a number of factors including securing of the logs or timber needed to build your home.

Not all timber is suitable for construction. In fact, most are not.

Because we are so particular about the quality of our logs, we require the top 5-10% of what the forest produces.

Therefore the sooner the planning process starts, the better. It takes several weeks to select and mark the logs we want and several weeks more to have the trees selectively harvested and delivered to our facility.

Once we have secured all the logs and timber we require and the drawings are complete,

an average log shell takes 3 – 6 months to fabricate in our yard.

The logs need to have the bark removed by hand and there is a lot of careful work scribing and fitting the logs together and appear like they grew together.

A typical timber frame home requires 2-3 months to cut once the sawmill has finished cutting the raw timber.

A timber frame outbuilding may take 2-4 weeks (depending on size and complexity).

The main thing to understand is that we need to carefully work backwards from your ideal delivery date to know when we need to have your job scheduled.

Communication and planning are the secrets to success when building a custom log home and timber frame.
